Opening Ceremony

At the beginning of each Colony meeting the children stand on the circle holding hands and walk into the middle saying “H.E.L.L.O” then in the middle shouting “Hello” and returning to the circle.

Closing Ceremony

At the end of each meeting the children stand on the circle and say together: Thank you for each happy day, for fun and friends and work and play, thank you for your loving care, here at Beavers and everywhere. They then crouch down with three fingers of each hand touching the floor in front of them and the Leader will say “who are you and what do you do” the Beavers then shout back “Beavers, Beavers, Beavers, Sharing, Sharing, sharing “ then jump up and clap their hands behind their backs.

Investiture

After a few weeks when your child decides they like coming to Beavers and has a uniform we will Invest them. For this the Beaver Scout will stand in front of the Leader, place their left hand on the flag and make the Scout Sign with their left hand. He / She will then be asked to say the promise either on their own or with the Leader. The leader will then present them with their scarf and Group badges.

Swimming up to Cubs

When your Beaver Scout is 8 years old it will be time for them to swim up to Cubs. Your Beaver Scout will be called up in front of the Leader and asked about their time at Beavers. He will then remove their scarf and ask them to swim through the “dam” and out of the other side to meet their new Cub Leader. During their last few weeks at Beavers your child will be invited to attend their new Cub Pack to enable them to meet their new Section.
