Opening Ceremony
On the leaders signal (raising and lowering arms), the Cubs squat down, hands between feet in a circle.
All Cubs: “Akela, we’ll do our BEST.”
Spring to feet
The Duty Sixer: Salutes “Cubs! Do your BEST.”
All Cubs: “We WILL do our BEST.”
The Leader will then ask the Pack to stand to attention
The Duty Sixer and Seconder will then walk to the flag whilst the rest of the Cubs are at attention, and break the flag, step back two paces and salute. The other Cubs salute at the same time. The Sixer and Seconder walk back to the circle and the Leader calls the Pack to ease.
Closing Ceremony
With the Pack standing in a circle, the Leader calls them to attention. The Grand Howl ceremony is repeated, then the duty Sixer and Seconder walk to the flag. The Sixer then lowers the flag and steps back two paces. They then walk back to the rest of the Pack and re-join the circle. The Leader will then dismiss the Pack
Investiture
Once your child has been coming to Cubs for a while and has his uniform they will be invested. They will stand in front of the Leader and either say the Cub Scout Promise and Law or repeat them after the Leader. They will be standing to attention and making the Scout sign as will the rest of the Pack. Their left hand will be placed on the flag
Sixes
The Cubs are split into four equal groups called Sixes. The sixes are denoted by a colour, red, green, blue and yellow. Generally the four oldest children will be Sixers and the next four oldest, Seconders. They are responsible for flag brake and keeping the rest of the Cubs in the Six in line as well as guiding them through activities.
Moving Up to Scouts
As with Beavers moving up to Cubs, the cubs are encouraged to go along to Scouts before they finally move up. When your Cub Scout is ready to move they will be asked what they have enjoyed about their time at Cubs and what they are expecting from Scouts. The rest of the Pack then cheers them off before the closing ceremony.
